![]() Do It Yourself If you need doll parts please click on this link Nothing satisfy me more than to see the Reborns come to together. It is amazing how something so plain transforms into something so Realistic. But when my customers receive their Reborns well, that's another story.Their faces say it all!! That's why if you decide to learn to Reborn or Newborning. Please do yourself a favor, please ask questions(LOTS)!! Remember no question is stupid. But it will cost you a lot if you don't. Reborns are expensive because of their parts.Oh, lets not forget time. Lots and lots of time. From painting and rooting their hair. Making their clothes and props. You are very busy all the time. When you start getting orders then you will know. It's not as easy as you thought. I have a friend I taught to Reborn. She told me it was no way that she could do this. Well, she learned then quit. Like so many of us, don't have the time. She is still one of my best customers with a new found respect about their babies. She told me "I will leave it to the pros. (lol )The wonderful thing about the Reborns if you make one and you don't like it, you can change it. the true meaning to "Reborn" is to make new. I am going to show you an example

Things Needed Syndee doll Paper towels heat gun a glass or porcelain palette 1/2" maxine mop # 1 round brush # 2 filbert brush # 1 liner brush # 00 round brush fan brush cosmetic sponges pointed Q-tips Artist grade odorless paint thinner rubber gloves acetone or something you can remove factory paint from your Syndee doll. Genesis heat-set paint Colors you will need to start Dioxazine purple 04 Phthalo blue 02 Phthalo green 06 Flesh 08 and Flesh 07( for white dolls) Pyrrole red 02 Burnt umber Glazing gel matte finish We are now ready to start. We are going to Reborn a Syndee doll. Yes, it can be done!! Start by taking your Syndee doll and you must take off the factory paint.First put on rubber gloves DO NOT USE LATEX gloves!! If you are using acetone it will eat through the gloves. Use rubber gloves!! In a WELL ventilated area pour a small amount of acetone on a paper towel and gently rub the paint off. Please careful NOT to get into eyes. Now you will need to use the pointed Q-tip dip into acetone and carefully with tip take off the painted eyelashes. Once that is done you are ready to paint. Setting up the palette Please note: Genesis heat-set paint is very concentrated you only need a little on your palette. Start by using a craft stick (Popicle stick) and take a little of each color and put on your palette leaving room to mix your colors. We are ready to start!! Now you are ready to start your veining. Veining Going back to your palette and start mixing these colors. Using your # 1 round brush start by dipping it into to your odorless thinner. Now dip into your Phthalo blue 02 mix onto your palette then go to your phthalo green 06. The color you want is a teal green. Now taking your # 1 round brush start your veining.Using very thin line put the veins where you want them. Now, you can bake the arms and legs ONLY!! At 265 degrees in your oven for 8 minutes only. The head of your Syndee doll you will need to use your heat gun until the paint sets. Okay, your parts are ready for the next step. Making sure that your parts are cool to the touch. You can begin the next steps. Basic Blushing Take your 1/2 maxine mop dip it into your odorless thinner. Make sure you get a lot of it. Now take the brush dab a little of Pyrrole red 02 on the very tip of brush. Mix it in the thinner like you are cleaning the brush. Go to your Phthalo blue 02 just barely touch the brush into the Phthalo blue 02. Mix that with the Pyrrole red 02 . You should see a slight purple red that's good. Now you go to your burnt umber. You will want a little more of it. The color you want is the color of blood. Sorry no better way to put it. Once you have the blood color you want. Take your maxine mop push it into the center of your cometic sponge. Please make sure you don't have too much of the color in the sponge. You will want a dry technique for this step. Starting with the face blush the cheeks alittle on the ears maybe forehead. The arms, elbows. tops of hands and knuckles.Using the maxine mop put color on palms.Back to sponge blush the legs, tops of feet. Now when you get to the bottom of feet do everything BUT not the arch of foot. You want the foot to look realistic. If you are satisfy with it.Time to bake the arms and legs. Use the heat gun the set paint on the head. Applying the Model Flesh tone Now your parts are cool go to your flesh 08 and flesh 07.Using your maxine mop take the brush and brush 08 on one side of sponge then 07 on the other side. You should have both colors side by side. Taking the sponge take the head and blout down and turn your hand and down again. Repeat this until the head is done. You don't want the same color side by side on the Syndee doll. You are creating the realistic flesh tones. After you completed all of the parts. You can bake and heat set the parts. Blushing Details Now your Syndee doll is cool you can start the next steps. Go back to your blushing color. This next step is optional, using your maxine mop you can dab alittle color on the brush. You don't want too much, you are going to details. These are the final steps. Take the brush and lightly touch the cheeks of your Syndee doll. This will give she or he a course effect, like a newborn look. Now once you finished with the cheeks. Take your sponge and begin to complete the hands and feet you can add blushing where you want it. Apply lips base coat Go to your filbert brush you are going to start your lips and nail beds. You don't have to bake because you are not going over your work. Take your filbert go to your blushing color apply to the lips. Go to the fingernail and apply color there, also toenails.Taking your filbert brush touch into your red just touch your burnt umber.Deepen the red but is still transparent by doing this will give some depth. You created a spading color. Now go to the corner of the mouth do both side to give it some extra depth. It's important give diminsion to your Syndee doll. You cannot do that with just one coat of paint. Take your filbert dip in your odorless thinner clean your brush by wiping it on a towel. Now take your dry brush, blend in the color in. Flesh 08 just touch you brush in it. Apply to the middle of the top lip. Remember when painting you should always work from dark to light color. Now it's time to bake and heat set. Eyebrows Using the liner brush go to your burnt umber, find a place on your palette and smear it in. Take a tiny spot of your blue tones down the red in the burnt umber. This will take some practice to master. Most Syndee dolls has a brow line to follow. Carefully put the eyebrow on. Color the creases and wrinkles Use #00 round brush, Dip brush into the odorless thinner. Now dip the brush into your blushing color. Mix it with the eyebrow brown. It's a little shortcut if you have it use it. Go into all ceases. Please make sure you blend as you go. You can use 3/4 maxine mop brush for this after you are done.
Apply the White nails tips Taking your liner brush go to you flesh 08.With a fine tip make the lines on all nails and toenails. Now you can bake the limbs. Apply Genesis Glazing Gel After baking the parts now take filbert brush and apply the Genesis Glazing gel to the lips and all the nails. Now bake the limbs and heat set the lips.
